1. Bronch cleaning: Be sure to perform a leak test on the bronch before cleaning. If it fails, do an outside cleaning only, but do not put into the medivator. Tag the equipment.
2. Pulmicort - budesonide will not be mixed, give separately. This is to avoid confusion with Pulmozyme-dornase alfa that is incompatible with other drugs.
3. Preceptor training class: January 26th 7:30-8:30 & 17:45-18:45. January 27th 7:30-8:30. This class is required for career enhancement credit (due March 2012) and/or to obtain preceptor differential.

12/8/11 Bulletin
1. Please be aware of the following HR policies:
- Badging in/out
- Employees are required to badge out for a 30 minute lunch unless a reason is documented in the blue book.
- According to HR policy: Failure to badge is counseled verbally on the first offense with a formal write-up at three times in 12 months.
- Calling in, unable to work a scheduled day, is a one point occurence.
- Calling in within two hours of the shift, or not at all (no-call, no-show) is a three point occurence.
- An employee is verbally counseled at three points. A formal "write-up" at 6 points.
2. Need a "how to" reminder of SPAG details? It's online at www.rtconnection.org , click on "How to" and then "Staff education and training". Remember, SPAG parts are cleaned by central supply after every dose.
3. Bivona Trach Issues
- Bivona issued a recall on certain models of neo/pedi/flextend tracheostomies. For a complete list, click here.
- Smiths Medical has become aware of some issues with connection/reconnection of its tracheostomies that, if done improperly, can lead to unplanned decannulation.
